Thank you for sharing this information. Forgive me as I am unable to relate this Fee Schedule to anything given it’s context is not clear to me. As a guess, I might see a connection to fee magnitude and immigrant age. Surely this fee schedule has nothing to do with cars. Can you kindly clarify!

      Hi Colin,
IMSS is a Mexican Gob. organization that provide workers health coverage, old age pensions, and worker’s comp. Our intent is just to identify this year’s health insurance coverage costs (that change every February).

Many expats like to enroll in the IMSS health coverage program for inexpensive health care – but you have to use IMSS hospitals – and pay an annual fee – and pre-existing conditions are not covered – and you cannot qualify for surgeries and other sophisticated treatments until after 1 or 2 years in the program.

Mexconnect has a decent basic article on this old program: http://www.mexconnect.com/articles/1834-know-the-law-in-mexico-imss-instituto-mexicano-del-seguro-social . Google IMSS to get more recent details.
      Happy Trails,

  2. Can’t thank you enough for this info as I would have been unprepared since last year mine was $3,700+ and for it to go to $4,400 is a substantial hike. I wish my social security would have gone up that much. lol

Residents of Progreso must apply at a specific IMSS office in Merida. Does anyone know the address of that office please?

  4. Annie says:

every year you have to re-apply for IMSS…where is that form and what do I need to go with it?
