Be afraid … Be stressed … or Be Prepared ?

Oct. 7, 2024:
In addition to the comprehensive list below, consider saving key photos & key documents either online on The Cloud … and also on 2 different thumb-drive USB memory sticks … since so many people report that their pictures are what they most miss after losing things in a storm.

and … Here in the Tropics, it can be super helpful to put your outdoor lawn furniture into the swimming pool, to keep it from flying around, along with prepping a “Bug-Out Bag” of clothes & meds.
Cheers!

Here’s a second list of storm preparation activities:

1. Experts now say
“Don’t bother taping your windows, it does nothing.”

2. If you are in a beachside home, consider installing good storm shutters.

3. Move patio furniture into your garage or shed (or in the swimming pool), trim your trees and shrubs, get rid of any yard debris.

4. Have a good store of potable drinking water.

5. Make sure your flashlights and battery powered devices (like a weather radio) are fully charged & working fine.

6. Keep a good stash of batteries & as much as a 3 month supply of key medicines … stored in your fridge.

7. Check outside for things that are not well secured that might fall or fly: even fences, decorative fountains, satellite dishes, solar panels, gazebos or other big outside structures, check them for damage and repair or replace anything that might come loose.

8. Solar chargers & hand-cranked chargers have become better & better quality – to charge cell phones, etc.

9. IF you live in a high-risk coastal area, pack up a BUG-OUT bag of essential things (meds, a few clothes, computer backups & foto backups on a memory stick**).

**10. After past disasters, many people report their key photos & key documents to be among their most precious possessions. **Consider making electronic copies of key fotos & key documents – and store them either on “The Cloud” … and additionally on 2 separate memory-sticks.

11.  Pack a “Bug-Out Bag” of essentials, including clothes & medications.
