Chichen Itza’s Best Celestial Secrets … Hidden in El Observatorio – El Caracol

Do you enjoy shifting your perspectives?

I LOVE how this overhead image of El Observatorio – “El Caracol” at Chichen Itza … shows how crazy-inconsistent the Maya mis-aligned the building’s stairs …

~ Shows how crazy-inconsistent the Maya mis-aligned the building’s two different platforms … 🤣

When we draw lines extending to the Eastern horizon from all those crazy-inconsistent, NOT SQUARE … NOT PARALLEL … intentionally inconsistent features …

we find that ~every single one~ of the seeming inconsistent sight-lines … has a celestial and time-keeping function.

The two different platforms’ weird cockeyed E-W sightlines point to the extreme points of the key movements of the Sun’s annual movements from North to South on our eastern horizon – tracking the Equinoxes & the Solstices.

The northernmost & southernmost rising points of the 5 visible planets (including Venus) on our Eastern horizon are built into the sight lines of the peculiarly placed windows (aperatures) in the tower…

Even the northernmost & southernmost rising points of the Moon, are also built into those peculiar E-W sight-lines, built into the building, walls, platform & stairs peculiar alignments …

Those special extremes of the Moon’s rising points are only seen once every 18.5 years … so MOST humans never even notice these special lunar events … because they only happen about 3 times during a human life. 😉

While most tourists put their focus on “El Castillo”

(that pitifully tracks just one simple thing … the Spring Equinox)

~ Instead, El Observatorio is a wonderfully inconsistent, assymetrical strange structure ! … that tracks so many more things than El Castillo ~

Which makes it my favorite feature in all of Chichen … 😉
