Feb 4
The ever-reliable Aaron of Mexconnect (and electric car enthusiast) offers this good update:
” Effective today, Feb. 3, the Mexican government is now waiving all duties on electric car imports and imports of unspecified repair parts for same. This expands the duty free import of such vehicles made in NAFTA countries to any country.
See, for example: http://www.sintesiscaaarem.com.mx/…rticle from Reforma.
See also http://primerahora.com.mx/index.php?n=186035 which notes that from January to October of 2016, 230 electric cars were imported into the country.
An article in El Universal adds that electric cars are exempt from the license plate based day driving ban in the Cd de Mexico. ”

Hi Steve – New Regulation re: Bringing Dogs into Mexico via Air
Didn’t know where to post this – can you assist?
Airport officials at the airport in Puerto Vallarta are enforcing a regulation requiring dogs ( not sure about cats) require the following:
PRIOR to arrival, your dog must have be treated against internal and external parasites by a licensed veterinarian and the products used must be reflected on the health certificate. Dogs must also have been treated for ticks shortly prior to entering the country. FYI

What about hybrid vehicles like a Prius??
Per the sources we cited, it was only EV’s, not hybrids.
